Teaching for Success on the ACT PDF Print E-mail

Teaching for Success on the ACT is a 5-hour class for teachers who want to adapt their existing class curriculum to better prepare students for these important college-level exams.

These workshops are designed for English, math, science, and social studies teachers. Participants will first examine the content of the ACT and then learn strategies to use in their classrooms that will benefit students when they take the ACT. This workshop differs from the Teachers as Coaches classes because the focus is on the classroom curriculum.

Teachers will learn

  • General principles for teaching English, Reading, Science, Math, and Writing for success.

  • How to develop vocabulary and reading comprehension.

  • Strategies for retaining math information longer.

  • How to build bridges between what students know and test demands.

  • Six research principles for teaching the Science Reasoning test on the ACT.

Contact us for additional information and to schedule a time with your teachers. There is a similar workshop available for the SAT.

Facilitators
Dr. Gary Moss and Dr. Ene-Kaja Chippendale

Cost

$1950 plus $50/participant for packet of materials that include workbooks, lesson plans, and ACT tests. The Math/Science packet also includes a CD of sample problems.
